Parts Needed to Add Hydraulic Drum Brakes to 3,500 lb Axle
Question:
Im looking to add brakeshydraulic surge to my Bear trailer hauling a 24foot pontoon. The axles are Axis 3500 lb. Axles with 13inch tires S/N of the axles are 513763010, and 51376312 both with a MFG date of 2/09. From my research it seems as though dexter 10x2 1/4 brake assemblies and drum/ hub assemblies will work. Am I right on that assumption? Rather than the cost of full hub/drum assemblies, is there a slip-on drum that would work with the existing hubs 5x4 3/4 stud pattern. I dont need the magnet friction disc, so a standard drum would just fine. Thanks

The only solution that's a slip on brake system for a trailer idler hub would be a disc brake setup. So to go to a hydraulic drum setup you'd have to get new hub drums and brake assemblies. Which for that you'd need the # AKHD-5475-35-K with the brake assemblies # AKUBRK-35L and # AKUBRK-35R.
