Weight Distribution Hitch For 400 lb Tongue Weight on 2016 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
2016 Jeep Cherokee V6. Jeep installed the tow package in factory and has all but the 2” receiver covered so I can’t see if it has any name plates with capacities. I’m looking for a load distribution hitch because I want to pull a trailer that has about 400 lbs TW and the load is about 4,500 lbs trailer + load. Trailer has brakes + controller. Does the factory tow package have a weight distribution spec?

I searched and was able to find the owner's manual online for a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, and according to the manual, a '16 Cherokee with the factory tow package and 3.2L V6 has a 450 lb tongue weight and 4,500 lb towing capacity, with no separate spec for weight distribution. We do have the perfect option for a weight distribution system for that amount of tongue weight, which is from Fastway:
- Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600
I really like the Fastway for a number of reasons, starting with its superior sway control, which is created by friction at two points on the brackets for a more controlled ride than other options. The Fastway is also easily the best value among weight distribution hitches, with a unique combination of relative cost-effectiveness and high quality. As you can see by the hundreds of reviews on the product page, our customers who have used it have given it a nearly 5-star rating.
It comes with a shank but you will need a hitch ball, with the correct one depending on your trailer's coupler, either 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 or 2" Hitch Ball # A-90.
I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution with 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0600.
