Can Roadmaster Stirling Tow Bar Be Used Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit? Yes, If . . .

Question:

I have a 2021 2 door Jeep Wrangler Willys Sport Vin# 1C4-GJXAG5MW-703175 that Im getting set up to tow behind my motorhome. Im having a dealer mount the Roadmaster Direct-Connect base plates RM-521453-5 and do the wiring. I plan on buying the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrian tow bar but as I review this tow bar on your site, Im seeing conflicting information. Product Expert Kristina F says this tow bar isnt right for you if you have Roadmaster direct connect baseplates but the product description says it works with Roadmaster Direct connect base plates as well as Roadmaster Crossbar base plates. Can you please confirm that this tow bar does work with Roadmaster Direct connect base plates specifically the RM-521453-5.

Helpful Expert Reply:

You already have the Roadmaster # RM-521453-5 Direct-Connect base plate kit installed on your Jeep and you want to use a Roadmaster # RM-576 Stirling all terrain and non-binding tow bar. Yes, you can do that, however, you cannot use the included special safety cables that come with the Stirling.

Remove the current safety cables and replace with Roadmaster # RM-646 safety cables rated for 8000 pounds. If you perfer coiled cables you could use the Roadmaster # RM-643 cables.
