Hitch Cargo Carrier Options for a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

I am interested in a hitch mounted cargo carrier that will work on a jeep wrangler unlimited 2009 with the spare tire mounted on back of vehicle back door swings open from left to right What would carrier would you suggest?

If you have a 2 inch hitch on your Jeep, any of our 2 inch cargo carriers will work. I have included a link to a page with all our 2 inch size cargo carriers. Take measurements of your cooler, luggage or whatever you will be carrying to see what size would be best suited for you.

I would recommend part # 63153 or the # e98874

I prefer carriers that are 24 inches deep over the 20 inch units. The extra 4 inches of wiggle room makes loading easier and will accommodate larger coolers and lock boxes.

No matter what you choose, just keep in mind how tall you are stacking on the carrier and the position of the spare tire. If you are concerned about clearing your spare tire with the carrier, Cargo Carrier # 63153 has 12-3/4 inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole to the carrier. The # e98874 has 19-1/2 inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole when in use and 9-1/2 inches when in the folded position. It also offers a tilting feature to help to access your back gate when the carrier is loaded with cargo.

Each carrier lists the length of the carrier from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back edge of the carrier. Extensions are available, but the further the load is from the hitch, the less load you can safely put on the carrier. Extensions significantly lower tongue weight capacity.
