How Does Curt Powered Tail Light Converter C59236 Get Installed In 2007 BMW X5?

Question:

Hi. I purchased the C59236 kit for my 2007 X5 3.0. I couldn’t find a video so I followed the 119190 kit video for the 2008 X5 thinking it would be the same. After I finished only the blinker and 4 way for the right side of my trailer works. I’m guessing wires on the left side are mixed up. Are there any videos available for the C59236?

We have not had a chance to install the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236 on a 2007 BMW X5, but have installed it in a 2014 BMW X5 as you can see in the included video.

Since there is a 7-year gap it is possible that the factory wire colors changed, so I recommend using circuit tester # PTW2993 to confirm the functions of your vehicle's wiring to make sure you make the correct connections.

The functions of the wires on the # C59236 are as follows:
Red wire is for vehicle's with separate turn signal and brake lights. Since yours are combined this wire gets grounded
White wire to ground
Green wire to passenger side turn signal
Yellow wire to driver side turn signal
Brown wire to tail light wire
Black wire to positive terminal of vehicle battery with included fuse.

I included a link to the written instructions of the # C59236 for you to take a look at.
