Can Auxiliary Diesel Tank Fuel Pump Be Powered By Vehicles 7-Way Connector?

Question:

I have a 99 auxillary tank for diesel with a three wire pump, a red hot black neutral and a smaller ground wondering the proper connection to wire the pump to the 7 way plug or if that is even possible?

The 12v power circuit in a 7-way connector is typically 40amps, so assuming your fuel pump does not exceed that you can definitely wire it to work in the 7-way connector on your vehicle.

You would need 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 6' Long # H20044 and heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5.

The Black wire of the # H20044 is the power wire and would be connected to the red power wire from the pump, and the white wire of the # H20044 is the ground that you would connect the main ground of the pump to.

I included a video of the # H20044 for you to take a look at.
