Flat Tow Wiring Needed for 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
I am looking to flat tow a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport behind my 2015 Forest River FR3 30DS. The Jeep has LED tail lights as well as several other safety features like adaptive braking and blink spot detection. I also plan on getting a supplemental braking system. Ive seen people recommend SM99251. I just want to make sure I purchase all of the right pieces to tow my rig. With the LED tail lights and safety features, I am unsure what to get for tow wiring since it is a little more complicated. Also, if you could set me up a complete recommended package/list every wire and connection I will need to have this thing ready to go, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for letting us know that your Jeep has LED tail lights, adaptive braking, and blind spot detection. Your set up will still use the Roadmaster # RM-152-98146-7 Universal Tow Wiring Kit. If you have the collision warning system we will need to discuss some changes to the tail light wiring.
You will need a base plate kit designed specifically for your Jeep with a standard factory bumper. You can use the Roadmaster # RM-521453-5 direct-connect plate with removable arms. The direct-connect plates will attach directly to a Roadmaster # RM-522 all-terrain, non-binding tow bar.
You may need a high/low hitch adapter. I have attached an article that describes how to measure for an adapter and another link with a list of all of our adapters.
You will also need safety cables to keep the towed vehicle connected to your coach in case of a tow bar failure. I would recommend the Roadmaster # RM-645 which are 64” long and rated for 8000 pounds. I like that the connectors are made so they can not bounce off the cable hooks. I also prefer the straight cables compared to coiled – it just looks cleaner when they are all tucked away.
Finally, the Demco # SM99251 “Stay & Play Duo” is a very popular choice for supplemental braking. Our customers love setting it up once and not have to fiddle with it anymore after that. I have attached a video demonstrating this.
