A good rule to go by is if the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, is at least 50 percent of the tow vehicle weight then weight distribution is a good idea. Most likely the GVWR of 3,636 is more than 50 percent of the tow vehicle weight so weight distribution would be a good idea.

To determine which system will work best you will need to determine the total tongue weight. This is calculated by taking the trailer tongue weight when loaded and ready to tow and then adding the weight of any cargo loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

If we were to go by the 3.636 pound weight, and tongue weight is typically 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight, that would put the tongue weight at 363 to 545 pounds. I recommend a system rated up to 600 pounds tongue weight like # RP66082. You would just need to add a ball for the trailer coupler. Use # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch or # A-90 for a 2 inch.

I have included a link to the installation instructions for this kit as well as a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control for you.
