Will Curt Bumper Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver E-3S Come Loose Since No Lock Nuts Are Used?
Question:
Hi Folks, I have a 93 F150 with a class-3 rated step bumper. Your E-3S looks like a perfect fit except that I will have to add the 2 smaller holes through the bumper. Q: I dont see lock washers. Do I simply tighten all 4 bolts and they will not vibrate loose? Should I use lock-tite? I would hate for the bolts to come loose and the entire hitch to off especially since the 2 chain holes for backup are on the hitch as well. Thanks!

You are correct that the Curt 2" Trailer Hitch - Bumper Mount - 8-3/4" Bolt Pattern - 5,000 lbs GTW # E-3S does not include locking nuts, and as long as you torque the included bolts to the torque spec listed in the instructions you will not need to worry about the nuts coming loose. You can add loc-tite if you wish, but it is not required.
There is no problem drilling the two holes in the bumper of your 1993 Ford F-150 for the two smaller holes, and will need to use a 1/2" drill bit for them.
I included a video of the # E-3S for you to take a look at.
