How To Install Furrion Vision S Camera System So It Works When Trailer Is Unhooked From Truck

Question:

In a previous question/answer I read that it is possible to use the cameras as a security system at the campsite provided you have a power source. the response: You absolutely can use the Furrion Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ Side Marker Light Cameras # FCE48TASL-05 while you're camping! Just make sure that you have your cameras hooked up to a power source that can be utilized when you are disconnected from the truck as most pre-wired camera systems are tied into the reverse lights. My question would be do I need to wire the cameras differently? Will the cameras work when the trailer is hooked up to power at the campground or would I need to do something extra to have the cameras work when the trailer is not hooked up to the truck?

Yes, you would need to wire the cameras of the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ Side Marker Light Cameras - 5" Screen # FCE48TASL-05 differently to use them when you are not hooked up to your truck, or you would need to find a way to send power to only the running light circuit from your trailer's battery when you are hooked up to shore power.

How we typically recommend you do this is running a power wire to each camera yourself and then connecting them to a switch like the Single Rocker Switch with Bezel # 37212225. From the switch you will go directly to the battery in your trailer. Doing this will power the cameras from the battery of your trailer so they will work even when your trailer is not hooked up to your truck, but you will need to turn the switch on when you are towing or the cameras will not be on. You will also want to add a 12v outlet # 37215105 in your trailer for the monitor to plug into when you are in the trailer.

I included a video of the # FCE48TASL-05 for you to take a look at.
