Can a Revolution Pin Box be Used Instead of a Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on a 2013 GMC Sierra
Question:
I have a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD diesel short bed. Is the manual hitch better to get than the revolution hitch? What are the exact part numbers and installation kits numbers I will need for both type of hitches?

A Revolution or Sidewinder (they are the same. Revolution is the name given to it when it comes OEM on a trailer) can be used in place of a slider hitch even when a Sidewinder is not required. It will provide plenty of clearance and you will not have to get in and out of the truck to slide the hitch back. If the trailer you have can accept a Sidewinder then it is definitely a viable option. The Sidewinder fits on the trailer so a hitch will be needed either way.
With a Sidewinder, you will need a fixed hitch so if you ever got a different trailer that cannot accept the Sidewinder then you would have to get a slider hitch.
Generally speaking, Sidewinders cost more than slider hitches so if expense is an issue then I would go for a round tube slider like # RP30075 that you have referenced. The fixed hitch version is # RP30047.
Another thing to look at is the make and model number of the pin box itself. This information should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box. Not all pin boxes can accept a Sidewinder. Use the FAQ article I have linked to determine if the trailer can be fitted with a Sidewinder.
If you go with a fixed hitch and Sidewinder or with just a slider hitch, you will need the proper installation kit. I recommend a custom installation kit # RP50066-58 because there is less drilling involved and it takes less time to install. I have linked the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.
