How To Tow 4' x 6' Utility Trailer and Carry Bike Rack With 2019 Kia Sorento W/ 2" Receiver

Question:

I have a 2019 Kia Sorento V6 with a 2 inch hitch. I bought a 4 x 6 utility trailer from Lowes for camping. I have 2 questions: 1. I would like to also carry a bike rack. Which part would you recommend for allowing me to tow the trailer and also connecting a trailer hitch bike rack? 2. The trailer came with 12 inch tires. Should I consider upgrading since I plan to travel on the highway for long distances? If so, what would you recommend?

The best option to carry a bike rack and tow your 4' x 6' utility trailer at the same time is using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs # D210 which has a standard ball mount to attach a 1-7/8" hitch ball # C40002, or 2" hitch ball # 63845, but has an additional 2" receiver to install your bike rack into.

The # D210 will fit perfectly into the factory 2" trailer hitch receiver in your 2019 Kia Sorento V6, and has a 750lb tongue weight rating and 7500lb trailer weight rating make it plenty strong. You will want to make sure that the weight of your bike rack plus bikes and the tongue weight of your trailer does not exceed the 750lb maximum of the # D210 or the tongue weight rating of your factory hitch, which ever is lower.

Moving on to the tires, there is nothing wrong with using 12" tires for highway driving and they are what I use on my kayak trailer which gets towed all over the place. The important part is making sure you are using a quality tire with a decent speed rating so you are not stuck doing 65 MPH on the highway.

Depending on which size your tires are the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT48012C is a great option as it has a 990lb load rating at 90 PSI, and has a speed rating of 81 MPH making it perfect for highway driving.

I recommend taking a look at the sidewall of your tires and looking for the speed rating, it is usually a letter like L or M. You can then figure out the speed rating of the tire by cross referencing that letter.

If you would rather go ahead and replace the tires just let me know your current tire size and I would be happy to make a recommendation for you.

I included videos for the products mentioned for you to take al ook at.
