J-Style Kayak Carrier Fit For Thule Truck Ladder Rack Crossbars

Question:

I have a toyota tundra with a Thule rack. The crossbars are slightly larger than 3 and 1/2 inches. I am looking for a kayak carrier similar to the Rhino Rack J-style kayak carrier, but believe that the crossbar clamps are too narrow for the Thule crossbars. What do i need to get a kayak carrier on those crossbars?

So I believe what you are saying is you have a Thule ladder rack on your Tundra and want to add a J-style kayak carrier. We do have an option for you that will work, but you are right that the crossbars are too wide for the clamp-on hardware of a kayak carrier to fit, which means you'll just need to use the T-track (channels) on top of the ladder rack, which your Thule rack should have.

What you can use is a kayak carrier and hardware from Malone:

- Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs # MPG114MD

- Truck Rack T-Slot Fit Kit for Malone Kayak Carriers # MPG8287

This is a really easy to use solution, as you'll simply slide the Fit Kit's channel nuts into the channel on top of your Thule ladder rack, and secure the DownLoader kayak carrier right to the those channel nuts for a simple, secure way to haul your kayak.
