There are several ways to mate a 5th wheel trailer to a gooseneck hitch. You may want to review the linked article for background on the available options.
You can use a Curt X5, part # C16210, to adapt your existing Reese 5th wheel hitch to your F-150 goose ball. This adapter plate will work with your Flip and Store gooseneck hitch and your Reese 5th wheel head and features a black carbide finish. Please note that bed liners may affect installation of this item.
Another simple cost-effective solution to adapt your 5th wheel camper to your new gooseneck-equipped Ford F-150, without installing any rails or hardware in your truck bed, is an adapter such as the Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Adapter, part # CAB-C5G. This cushioned steel adapter mates your 5th wheel king pin to your gooseneck ball and provides adjustable height between 12 and 16 inches. I have linked two videos for this product; one is a review explaining the features and the other shows the simple installation process. There are also offset versions of this type of adapter that can provide a bit of additional clearance between truck and trailer.
Another way to use your 5th wheel with your new gooseneck-equipped F-150, again without having to install hardware in the truck bed, is to replace the pin box on your 5th wheel camper with a 5th wheel-to-gooseneck coupler, such as the Reese Goose Box, part # RP85FR. This coupler is a direct replacement for the Lippert 0719, 1621, 1621HD pin boxes. We also offer others. You will need to check the number on your current 5th wheel pin box to determine which is the correct fit. Please note that both of these Reese products are endorsed by Lippert and will not void the warranty on their trailer frames.
A video link for the RP94622 is included. This is the safest and most secure way to couple your trailer and truck.
The main advantage of using one of these air-ride couplers compared to the adapters is that your ride quality will be improved. The air bag and shocks in the coupler smooth both vertical bounce and side-to-side chucking. Both coupler kits are bolt-on and include all required hardware.
