Which Bike Rack Is Best For 2 Electric Bikes Weighing 50lbs Each?
Question:
I know the bike rack is rated for 2 x 40 pound bicycles, but is it safe to use it for my 2 e-bikes weighting approx 50Lbs each.

Since your bikes weigh 50lbs each, I do not recommend using the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU74FR since that would be exceeding the weight capacity of 40lbs per bike. You could remove the battery from both of your electric bikes which may reduce the bike weight to 50lbs each, which would allow you to safely use the Kuat bike rack. If you are not able to reduce the weight of each bike to 50lbs then I recommend going with a different bike rack that can safely accommodate your bikes.
If you have a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver on your vehicle that is class 2 then I would go with the RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Hitches # RKY10003. If you have a 2" trailer hitch receiver then you will want the 2" version which is RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # RKY10004. The MonoRail has a weight capacity of 60lbs per bike which will be plenty for your e-bikes. It is also a wheel-mount style just like the Kuat Transfer V2. There are integrated locks to secure your bikes and the bike rack to your vehicle. Another nice feature is the tilting mechanism which allows for access to the trunk of most vehicles without needing to remove the bikes. There is also a folding option for saving room at the rear of the vehicle when the bike rack is not in use. I attached a detailed demonstration video for you to check out.
