Comparing The Thule Hitching Post Pro To The Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack

Question:

I have a 2019 Honda Passport with a newly installed DrawTite hitch 76290. I have been considering the Thule Hitching Post Pro as well as the Yakima Ridgeback Y02458. A few questions: 1 It seems the Yakima Y02458 is a more robust rack with more convenient options to install with a hitch pin and simple release mechanisms for folding and tilting. This is compared to manual pins with the Thule Hitching Post and a threaded hitch bolt. Am I missing something here? 2 Would the Yakima Y02458 fit with proper clearances on my Passport?

The Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack Tilting # Y02458 is definitely easier to use than the Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack # TH934XTR. The simple buttons on the Yakima allow the carrier to tilt with minimal effort, while the Thule uses manual pins that need to be pulled to move the rack which is slightly less convenient. Another good point you made is that the Yakima uses a simple receiver pin, while the Thule uses a threaded pin which takes more time.

Another feature that the Yakima has that the Thule does not have is the integrated knob which locks the Yakima carrier to the receiver. I also recommend adding Yakima Handcuff Cable Lock # Y02466 to secure the bikes to the carrier. The Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack will work well for you 2019 Honda Passport as it measures 9-1/2" from the trailer hitch receiver pin hole which is more than enough for nearly any SUV. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you.
