Can Just 5th Wheel Hitch Be Replaced Or Do 5th Wheel Rails Need To Be Replaced As Well?

Question:

I had a curt A20 hitch installed to tow my Jayco 29.5 BOH but had isssues making tight turns, my question is can I used the same bed rails I had installed for this hitch because there were no factory installed pucks to put a slide hitch in its place ? The dealership installed the hitch , so I guess I’ll have to see them to trade it out!

The 5th wheel rails you had installed in your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD with 6-3/4' bed are industry standard rails so you will be able to just switch out the 5th wheel hitch.

Since your truck has a short bed the sliding Curt A20 # C16541 would be the best option and honestly I am surprised they didn't set you up with a sliding hitch to begin with as a fixed hitch is really only recommend for 8' bed trucks.

Another option is to replace the base of your current A20 with the slider base # C16550.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
