How do I locate the backup light wire? Are there different locations? So I can hookup the five wire to.

The easiest place to locate a reverse light wire on any vehicle is directly behind the reverse light itself. If that is not easily accessible then there will be a wiring harness that leads to the tail lights that may also contain the reverse light wire. You will need a circuit tester like # PTW2979 if you do not have one. Test the wires in the harness leading to the tail lights to determine if any of them are the reverse light and tap in there.

Another option is to find the reverse light circuit fuse under the hood (use the owners manual or legend on the power distribution box lid to find its location) and then use a fuse tap to tap into it. You would then need to run a long wire, # 12-1-1, from the fuse tap to the adapter. The wire would have to be long enough to reach, we sell it in 1 foot increments. Running the wire under the vehicle would require avoiding hot and moving parts. You can secure the wire using basic wire ties.
