Will The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver Class 3 Void The Warranty On 2019 Honda Odyssey?

Question:

Good afternoon. I am interested in the Draw Tite Class III - 2inch Trailer Hitch for my 2019 Honda Odyssey. My only concern is that installing this hitch could possibly void the 3 year/36, 000 mi factory warranty for my vehicle. I was advised by my local dealership that they only install a Class 2 hitch because Odysseys are only rated to tow 3500 pounds. They advised that a Class 3 hitch would void the factory warranty because it would increase the towing capacity past Hondas recommendation. I would prefer installing a hitch with a 2inch receiver inlet for a bike rack. Do you have any information or experience regarding voiding factory warranties for this type of hitch? Thanks and best regards,

A dealer cannot void your warranty on your 2019 Honda Odyssey simply because you installed and/or used an aftermarket trailer hitch receiver. However, if an issue with your vehicle happened to arise and the dealer deemed the issue to have been primarily caused by the installation or use of that trailer hitch receiver then it could possibly void your warranty.

That being said, I think the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 76170 is a great option for you as many Odyssey owners have used this particular receiver. The max towing capacity of the hitch is 3,500lbs and the max tongue weight is 525lbs; just make sure you are not exceeding the towing capacities of your vehicle and you will have no issues. This offers a simple bolt-on installation process and includes all the necessary hardware and instructions.

Since you mentioned you would be looking into bike racks, feel free to provide some information regarding your bikes and how many you want to transport, and I will gladly recommend a quality bike rack for you!
