Thread Engagement For Wheels on Kodiak Hub Disc Brake Kit With 1/2 Inch Studs
Question:
How much thread engagement is considered safe for a lug nut on a wheel stud? I have capped lug nuts and cannot see. I have counted 10 turns with lug nut to contact with wheel plus a little more with torque.

When installing wheels on a hub like the one with the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR526D, the wheel stud threads need to be visible outside the nut; a good general rule is that there should be three threads visible past the end of the lug nut.
The minimum thread engagement needs to be equal to the diameter of the wheel stud, so for 1/2 inch studs like in the Kodiak hub you need 1/2 inch of thread engagement. You mentioned 10 hand turns and more with torque, and that is a good approximation for full engagement. That said, there isn't a set, specific amount of turns; it is important you have the 1/2 inch engagement needed to safely mount the wheel on the hub of the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR526D,
