For your 1996 F-150 I suggest the Brophy Camper Hold Down Kit, part # HSSF. This is a set of four powder-coated 3/8-inch thick steel hold-down brackets that comes complete with hardware and pads to protect your F-150 paint. These install without drilling; they do not mount in the stake pockets, but instead wrap around the bed rails and use the inside of the truck bed as the support point. If you need hardware to secure the camper to the tie-downs, I suggest the Brophy hardware kit, part # TDHP.

I have attached a photo showing several images of how this product fits to the bed rails on your F-150. You can see additional images on the product page.

To install, first place the protective tape under the rest plates and on the T-Bars. Next, thread the T-Bar into the nut at bottom of each Hold Down. Then place the front two Hold Downs as forward as possible on rail of your truck body, making sure they are forward of the campers front eyebolts. Place the back two Holdowns on the rails of the truck slightly forward of or directly below the camper eyebolts. Adjust all the T-Bars until the Holdowns are square with the trucks rails. When properly aligned, tighten the lock nuts. Next, put each locking clamp in place under the rails of the truck and square with the holdown. Install and tighten the included bolts to complete installation. Instructions are attached.
