Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for a Smoother Ride When Hauling with a Gooseneck Hitch
Question:
I have a 2008 Ford F-350 super duty with an 8 foot bed and a gooseneck already in the bed. We are looking into buying a 5th wheel and are trying to figure out what gooseneck 5th wheel adapter would be best for us. We are looking for a smoother ride that won’t hurt the integrity of the 5th wheel going cross country. Is an adapter a good option or is installing a 5th wheel hitch a better option for us? I am having trouble figuring out what our options are that are compatible. Thank you for your help!

There are two routes you could go. Since you already have a gooseneck hitch installed in your truck and you are looking for a smoother ride, I recommend the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter # RP85FR. This adapter will provide a smoother ride and allow you to connect your fifth wheel trailer directly to your gooseneck hitch.
If you would rather go with a fifth wheel hitch, I recommend the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # BWRVK3500. If you want a smoother ride with hitch you will still need to swap out your king pin. You can use the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC328492.
