Front and Rear Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 1997 Chevy C/K Series Pickup

Question:

Okay I am looking for a front and back hitch for my 1997 chevy silverado. I would like to keep my tow hooks for the front and the rear hitch needs to tow a 6,000 LB boat. Thanks Bruce

The Curt Class V # C15325 that you'd looked at would make a great choice for the rear hitch. The hitch has a 16000 lb towing/2400 tongue weight capacity, so it can handle just about anything you throw at it. If that's more capacity than you'd ever need and would like something a little less expensive, I'd go with the Draw-Tite
# 37130 which has a 7000 lb towing/700 lb tongue weight capacity. These hitches will fit assuming you're speaking of a pickup truck and not a cab/chassis model. The hitches are compatible with standard or step bumpers, but not roll pan bumpers.

For a front hitch, The Curt # 31042 is what I'd recommend. It does allow the tow hooks to be reinstalled, but honestly most folks leave them off and use the hitch itself as an attachment point.
