Why is a Dedicated Power Wire Needed to Install Part # 118501 on a Hyundai Tuscon
Question:
I dont get what the power wire from battery is for with this kit. The output is a 4 pin flat. This should be left turn/brake, right turn/brake, tail lights and ground. Why does this need a dedicatet hot directly from battery? Thanks.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The reason the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118501 requires a power wire is that your Tuscon requires a harness that provides the power from the vehicle battery and keeps the amperage draw from the trailer lights off of the taillight circuits. The wiring harness uses the vehicles taillight circuits to trigger the lighting functions for the trailer but will not draw power from the taillight circuits to light the trailer lights.
Running the power wire directly to the vehicles positive battery post, through the inline fuse holder, is required to protect your vehicles sensitive circuitry from the amperage draw from the trailer.
The converter box will convert your vehicles 5 wire taillight system, with the separate amber turn signals, to a 4 wire system which is needed to properly operate the trailers lighting system.
