Recommended Base Plate Kit For Flat Towing 2006 Jeep TJ
Question:
Hello, Im planning to tow my 2006 Jeep TJ behind my motorhome. Ive been looking at the Blue Ox baseplate BX1118, however, after watching the installation video which is very helpful I am wondering if there are other choices I should consider that dont require drilling new holes. Are there other models that pick up existing bolts/holes? Thank you

I have another option for you, but the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1118 you were looking at is not confirmed to fit your 2006 Jeep TJ.
Instead I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521424-5 which will require you to drill one hole on each side of the frame on your Jeep, but that goes for each of the base plates offered for your Jeep.
For a compatible tow bar I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain # RM-522 which is one of our most popular tow bars due to its non-binding arms that allow you to quickly and easily unhook your Jeep from your tow vehicle even on un-even ground.
Next I recommend the RoadMaster Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit with Straight Wiring # RM-9243-1 which includes the safety cables and tow bar wiring needed, but also includes a storage case for the # RM-522 when it is not in use.
Moving on to a supplemental braking system I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR due to it being very easy to install compared to other systems, and also since it gets completely removed when you are done flat towing it can be used in multiple vehicles if needed.
Lastly you will more than likely need a high-low adapter to level your tow bar to your tow vehicle so I have included a link to a helpful article that goes over how to measure for the correct adapter, and a link to all of our high-low adapters for you to take a look at.
It is always a good idea to check the recreational towing section of your vehicles owner's manual for any restrictions regarding flat towing, and for any special steps required to make your vehicle ready to be flat towed.
I included videos and written instructions for the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
