Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 1995 GMC Sierra K1500

Question:

I was looking at purchasing a hitch receiver for a new to me 1995 GMC Sierra k1500. On your website the top listed receiver hitch curt class IV said it was only compatible with a 18” or smaller spare tire. Do you have anything available that would fit a 20” spare?

As long as the tire on the 20" spare is the height as the factory tires on your 1995 GMC Sierra K1500, and your truck has the standard or step bumper you will be able to use the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Multi Fit - Class IV - 2" # 37130.

This hitch has a 700lb tongue weight rating and a 7000lb trailer weight rating when NOT using a weight distribution system, or 1200lb tongue weight and 12000lb trailer weight if you are using a weight distribution system. Keep in mind that these ratings may exceed the ratings of your truck, so you will need to find the towing capacity in the owner's manual for your truck and use the lower rating between the hitch and truck.

If the tires on your 20" wheels are larger than the factory size, they may fit but none of the hitches offered for your truck have been tested as such so I am unable to confirm this.

If your K1500 does not already have a vehicle wiring harness I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118315.
