Recommended Weight Distribution System For 2007 Toyota Sienna Towing Jayco SLX Baja 154BH
Question:
Hi, I have a question regarding fitment of Reese straight-line system weight distribution hitch and anti sway system, product number RP66082. The information on your site suggests that this is the superior system to the blue ox bxw0550. Is this correct? I have an 07 sienna that will be towing a Jayco SLX baja 154BH trailer. The measurement to the top of the receiver opening on the sienna is 13. The measurement to the top of the trailer ball receiver is 22 1/2 inches. The difference is outside the adjust ability of the hitch, so is there an adapter to fix this issue? The trailer frame size connecting to the hitch is 3 tall by 2 wide square steel. Please advise on solutions/issues. Thank you very much, etrailer has always been my go to for trailer and tow products.

You are correct that the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # RP66082 is going to be superior compared to the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 6,000 lbs GTW, 550 lbs TW # BXW0550 due to the cam arms providing increased stability and sway control.
To be sure of which weight distribution system is correct for you, you will need to find the total tongue weight of your setup which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded and ready to tow trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2007 Toyota Sienna. The easiest way to find the tongue weight of your trailer is using a tongue weight scale like the # e99044, but there are other ways as shown in the included article.
As long as your total tongue weight is between 200-600lbs the # RP66082 will be a great option. If you find that your total tongue weight is greater than 600lbs you will need to move up to the # RP66087 which is rated for total tongue weights ranging from 400-800lbs.
The # RP66082 and # RP66087 do not include a hitch ball so you will need either the 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286 to match the coupler on your Jayco SLX Baja 154BH.
Based on the measurements you provide of your trailer hitch and trailer coupler you will need a shank with at least a 10-1/2" rise. You will need the Reese Weight Dist Shank # RP3215 which will give you up to 11-1/2" rise.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
