Best Roof Rack for a 2018 Ford Explorer to Use with a Yakima ShowDown

Hi! Ive got a 2018 Ford Explorer that I need to purchase a crossbar kit. I have a Yakima ShowDown Kayak carrier that will be utilized with whatever I get. I originally figured that I should get a Thule Podium WingBar Evo because that is what Ford recommended, however I like the Rhino Rack. Havent looked at the Yakima yet but...What is the best rack for a single kayak? If Thule or Yakima are better then Id rather spend the extra money now, instead of replacing a cheap rack later. I would really appreciate your input, its all gotten a bit confusing. Thanks

Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and Thule all make great crossbars for the 2018 Ford Explorer.

However, to recommend just one to you, I suggest going with the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars, part # TH711520. The reason is because they are the longest available for your Explorer. That is important because the Yakima ShowDown, part # Y04081, requires at least 3-1/2" of crossbar space beyond the foot to utilize the lift assist.

To attach the crossbars to your side rails, you will also need the Rapid Podium Feet, part # TH460R, and the Fit Kit for Thule Podium-Style Roof Rack Feet, part # THKIT3151. I've linked to a video review of this setup for you to look at.
