Recommended Drawbar For 2019 Subaru Forester With Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver
Question:
Need drawbar and 1-7/8 ball for Class 1 hitch on Subaru Forester 2019. Will be pulling light aluminum Trailex SUT 350-S trailer with canoe total weight ~ 250 pounds. The inside edge of the top of the receiver on the hitch is exactly 14. The trailer specs say the TOP of the coupler is 16 but I havent received the trailer yet to measure myself. Shouldnt we measure from the bottom to figure out the correct amount of rise? At any rate, can you recommend a ball and drawbar for me? I dont mind a fixed ball since I wont pull anything else. And does the ball material make a difference with such a light trailer? Thanks.

Based on the measurement you provided of the trailer hitch receiver on your 2019 Subaru Forester and the trailer coupler it sounds like you will need a drawbar with no rise.
You are correct that you want to measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler, but the coupler will be roughly 2" tall meaning you will be almost perfectly even.
I recommend the Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches - 5/8" Rise - 9-3/4" Long - 2,000 lbs # 3591 as it will be perfect for keeping your trailer level when it is hitched. This drawbar includes the hitch pin and clip so you will not need to purchase one separately.
For a compatible hitch ball I recommend the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256. This hitch ball has a chrome finish for corrosion resistance, and a 2000lb weight capacity which is more than enough for your small trailer. You could use a stainless steel hitch ball like the # A-80, but the only difference is it will be more corrosion resistant than the chrome hitch ball. It has the same 2000lb weight capacity.
If you do not already have a 4-way connector installed on your Forester I recommend the # 118467.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
