Demco 5th Wheel Sliding Hitch Lubrication

Question:

How and where should I lubricate on this hitch. Is there a video for this? There is rust on the round part on the hitch as you can see in the photo, what should I do about this as well please?

We've checked with Demco in the past to determine what the lubrication schedule is for their Hijacker Autoslides like the part # DM8550024 and they gave us the following info:

They recommend simply applying WD40 or similar lubricant into the locking bar tube, opening and closing the locking bar a few times for even application. The jaw pins can be removed and greased by unhooking the jaw spring and snap rings. Routinely clean and inspect the pins for any wear and apply a light coat of grease before re-installing them.

Once a month or every 5,000 miles also inspect the lower guide plates and roller (on the sliding base) for excessive wear and apply a multi purpose or lithium grease to the side guide plates.

I have attached the complete installation and operating instructions manual below that you can also look through.

I wouldn't worry too much about the surface rust that you have on your hitch as well, but applying grease to it will prevent it from getting worse.
