How To Extend A 2" Equalizer Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
I have a short bed truck and would like to haul a golf cart while towing my 6000lb travel trailer. The tailgate would need to be down for this and that causes issues with the trailer. I have a 2” receiver on the truck and I am using an equalizer load distribution hitch. Is there an extension available for this type of setup with the weight capacity needed?

Your only option is to go with a longer shank for your Equalizer weight distribution hitch. The longest one we have is Equalizer Weight-Distribution Shank # EQ90-02-4500 which is 18" long. This has a tongue weight range of 600-1,400lbs. There are hitch receiver extenders available but none of them are compatible with a 2" weight distribution hitch. Hitch extenders will also reduce your hitch capacity by 50%, but the long shank I mentioned above will not reduce your towing capacity by any means. I have attached a demonstration video for this shank.
