Trailer Connector Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Highlander
Question:
I have a toyota highlander 2018. The salesman said there is a wiring connector up under drivdr side rear fender that i can easily plug into. Is this true? Your videos show a wiring install from inside rear of vehical. Whic wiring kit is recommended? Thanks

The correct connector will depend on the trailer you're planning on towing. If the trailer has a simple 4-pole trailer connecter, I'd recommend the Tekonsha # 118449. The connector/harness comes in 2 parts, the converter box and the harness with the 4-pole connector. Both pieces would install into the factory connetors located under the rear hatch threshold as shown in the provide photo. The converter plugs into the 10 pin socket closer to the driver's side and the trailer connector itself plugs into the connector located closer to the center.
If your trailer has brakes, you'll need a 7-way connector like # 22119 and a Tekonsha brake controller like the # TK90160 Primus. The harness plugs into the same connector as the # 118449, and connects to the brake wire at the 3rd brake lamp.
