Primus IQ Brake Controller Numbers Scroll While Driving

Question:

While driving it feels like the brakes are hanging up. If Im accelerating, the numbers tricke down to zero. But if Im steady it will creep up so 15 or so. If Im coasting it will come on to about 03-06. Plz help

This is a common issue when the brake controller # TK90160 is not mounted level inside the vehicle. The brake controller needs to be level from side to side and can be mounted between zero and ninety degrees vertically. If this doesn't solve your problem the brakes on the trailer might be wearing unevenly or warping causing the brakes to chatter. The brake controller is designed for trailers with electric brakes so it is possible there is an exposed wire causing the wire to ground out while the brakes are being applied.

To check the wires, you need to follow the blue wire from your brake controller to the plug on your trailer and check it for exposed wires. It is possible there is a bad battery connection, so make sure your battery connection and ground are good.

If the vehicle side is good, it is possible there is a wiring problem on your trailer. Follow the brake wires from the brakes to the 7-way plug looking for exposed wires.
