How To Convert 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver To 2 To Use Bike Rack On 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Question:
My truck is 2021 F250. I have a OEM receiver with 3inch opening class V and I want to be able to install my bike rack which is 2. The truck sits pretty high at the receiver. What do I need to this bike rack down a bit and be able to match these two up? Also in the future to be able to tow something in a class III config like a uhaul or similar trailer? The truck has a BW companion hitch for pulling 5 wheel RV trailer

The Trailer Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeves - 3" to 2-1/2" or 2" # e33YR will be your best option for reducing your 3" receiver opening down to 2-1/2" or 2". Then you can install Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 to drop the receiver down for the bike rack to sit lower to the ground. Keep in mind, this reduces overall receiver capacity by 50%, but that shouldn't be an issue on a truck of this size.
You can use B and W Stow and Tow Dual Ball Mount - Model 8 - 2" Ball and 2-5/16" Ball - Black # BWTS30037B when towing a trailer. This is class 5 and comes with a 2-5/16" ball rated at 21,000lbs and a 2" ball rated at 7,500lbs. This fits your 3" receiver opening and offers up to 4-1/2" drop. I have attached a demonstration video for these products.
