Do I Need A Weight Distribution System To Tow A 2400lb Camper With My 2012 Jeep Wrangler?
Question:
Thanks for the response Andrew. I forgot to mention that my Jeep is lifted and the height of the top of the hitch is 21” from the ground. The tongue height of the trailer is 13". The weight distribution hitch you recommended looks to have a 6.5” drop. Would you happen to have one that has more of a drop you would recommend?

Anytime your gross trailer weight is more than 50% of your vehicle's weight or if the rear of your vehicle sags when the trailer is hooked up you will want to use a weight distribution hitch. Since your camper weighs 2400lbs and is more than 50% of your 2012 Jeep Wrangler's estimated curb weight of 3760lbs, it is definitely recommended to use a weight distribution system.
I recommend going with Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 4,500 lbs GTW, 450 lbs TW # FA92-00-0450. This has a tongue weight range of 100-450lbs, so this will be plenty for your camper. You will need to get a hitch ball, which is sold separately. For 2-5/16" ball go with # 63847, 2" ball go with # 40038, for 1-7/8" ball go with # C40002. It is also recommended to use 1-1/2" 12pt Socket - 3/4" Drive # ALL643210 when installing the a hitch ball. I have attached a detailed video for the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System.
