I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11354 because we've found that the powder coating on the Curt hitches is a bit thicker; this is going to translate to a hitch that holds up to nicks and scratches a bit better over time. This hitch gives you a 1-1/4" receiver that's perfect for carrying a bike rack or the occasional light trailer tow and is a perfect choice for your 2015 VW Beetle with a diesel engine as long as it does not have the AdBlue DEF tank at the rear. If your Beetle has that DEF tank then there is not a hitch available for this model.

If you're just trying to carry some bikes and your diesel has the AdBlue DEF tank, then your best bet would be a trunk mounted bike rack like the Thule Passage # TH910XT, which can carry 2 bikes and is confirmed to fit on your 2015 Beetle. This rack uses anti-sway cradles to keep the bikes from moving around and damaging your vehicle or each other, and the carrier uses 6 straps and the Fit dial to get a secure fit to your vehicle. This is a great value option to carry bikes that won't require a hitch. If you're carrying any bikes with aggressive step through frames you'll also need a bike frame adapter bar like the # 64005, which allows the bikes to stay level on a hanging or trunk mounted bike rack.
