Easy to Install Brake Controller Recommendation for 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
Etrailer I am looking at purchasing a trailer brake controller for my 2016 Ram 1500. I see you offer many units and was hoping you could recommend one? I will not be towing anything very heavy maybe up to 5000 lbs and the trailer will have dual axles. I am just looking for something that is easy to install and will do the job. Thank You

The easiest brake controller to install would be the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller, part # C51180. As long as your truck is equipped with a functional 7-way trailer connector, the Echo would be a plug and play install. The Echo uses an app you'd install on your smart phone to control the trailer braking, which is very easy to use and won't require any wiring whatsoever. I've linked to an article with more details about the Echo wireless brake controller.
If you'd prefer a traditional controller that mounts to the underside of the dash, I'd recommend the reasonably-priced Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. You'll also need the # 3024-P wiring harness which will plug into the factory tow package connector under the dash. Since your truck is prewired for a controller, this install is very simple. You'll mount the controller to the underside of the dash, and plug it in.
I've linked to install videos for both brake controllers I mentioned above.
