The Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360 is a good lower-cost rack that has what I consider to be essential features like anti-sway cradles that prevent the bikes from swinging back and forth during transport and sturdy rubber straps that hold the bikes to the rack. An optional locking anti-rattle hitch pin and cable lock, part # S64031 is also available.
The Thule Helium Aero, part # TH9042PRO is great higher-end rack that features lightweight aluminum construction and an integrated cable lock and anti-rattle hitch lock to help deter theft.
To carry womens bikes or bikes with sharply angled top tubes or step-through frames, using a frame adapter like part # TH982XT is recommended. The adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar gooseneck, and provides a level attachment point to the bike rack so the bike has greater ground clearance and is not carried at an angle.
