Which Replacement Hub Do I Need for 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern Existing Hub on Lawn Trailer

Question:

I have a home built leaf spring 6 X 10 lawn trailer. 5 bolt 4.5 with a zerk in the middle of the wheel. How do I tell what hub assembly I need?

You can typically narrow it down with the axle capacity and the bolt pattern of the hubs, which you know. However, the most reliable way is to pull the hubs off and check which bearings are in the hubs. For example, the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKIHUB-545-35-K uses an # L68149 inner bearing and # L44649 outer bearing, so if you've got those bearings in your hub then these would be a good replacement hub.

If you pull off the hubs and determine that you've got different bearings, just let me know what you find and I'm happy to help you locate a replacement hub that would work.
