Does Tow Ready T-One Connector # 118520 On A 2008 Mazda CX-9 Have A Constant Current
Question:
Regarding the lead to the positive battery terminal, wouldnt this line always have current running thru it? Isnt this creating a drain on the battery?

Expert Reply:
The Tow Ready T-One Connector # 118520 for your 2008 Mazda CX-9 will have a constant supply of power whether the vehicle is running or not since it is connected directly to the battery.
However, it will not cause a drain on the battery because the trailer wiring circuits are not active when not in use. For example, the only time a draw is placed on the power wire is when the stop, turn, or taillight circuit on the vehicle is activated and the lights on the trailer are drawing amperage.
I have provided links to both the installation instructions for this item as well as a video showing the installation of this product on a 2010 Mazda CX-9. While the model year is different than your vehicle, the installation technique is similar.
