It sounds like you are looking to install a brake controller on a 2018 Chevrolet Suburban. If that is the case then you first must determine if you have the factory tow package or not. This can be done by looking under the dash for the factory brake controller plug (if present) or calling the dealer.
If you do have the factory tow package then you can install a traditional brake controller using a plug-in adapter, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller part # RED44FR with the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers part # 331-TPH-010. If you don't have the factory tow package then you'll either need to hardwire a traditional brake controller as there is no factory plug or you can use a wireless brake controller which I recommend, the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180.
