16" Wheels for an Off Road Camper with 6 on 5-1/2" Hubs and Tires Needing 7" - 8" Wide Rims

Question:

Hi I am building an off road camper trailer. I ordered the timbren ASR35HDS05 axle less axles and a pair of the AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K hubs to go on it! I’m looking to run some 16 inch wheels. Wondering if you could point me in the right direction. The tires I plan to use recommend a 7-8” wide wheel. Just want to know if 0 offset works or what wheels would work best in your opinion on this application. Thanks in advance!

It looks like you're looking for 16" wheels for your Idler Hub Assembly, part # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K, with tires that need a 7" - 8" wide wheel.

Since this hub has a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, we can narrow all of this down to the only wheel we offer that meets all of these specifications. That wheel is the Aluminum HWT Hi-Spec Series 03 Mod Trailer Wheel w/-8mm Offset, part # AM22657. It has a width of 7" and a weight capacity of 3200 pounds, so they also match your hubs' specs.

As for the offset, this one has an 8mm negative offset, which brings the hub mounting surface closer to the frame and pushes the tire out away from the frame. This is actually a good thing since this wheel (and your tire) is wider than most other 16" wheels (they are mostly 6" wide).

I've linked to a video review of this wheel for you to look at.
