Weight Distribution for a Trailer with 800 Pounds Tongue Weight and a 2007 Chevy Avalanche

Question:

I just purchased a new 2013 Keystone OutBack 2610F with a TW of 800lbs. I owned a 2005 Jayco EXP 23 with a TW of 600 lbs before this. Im hauling this new unit with a 2007 Chevy Avalanch. I now need to change my distrabution bars because they are rated for the 600 lbs. What would be your recommendation for this set up. I only see set ups right at 800 lbs max. Do I need to go higher? In your opion what is the best rated manufactor as well?

Depending on the weight distribution you currently have and its approximate age, you may just be able to switch out the bars as opposed to a complete new system. You will also want to make sure that the hitch on your 2007 Chevy Avalanche and the vehicle itself are rated for weight distribution and the 800 pound tongue weight of your trailer.

There are systems rated as high as 1,500 pounds tongue weight. Typically you want a system with a range that encompasses the tongue weight of your trailer. So for 800 pounds tongue weight a system rated for up to 1,200 pounds, like # 49570, would be the way to go.

We also have a similar system rated for up to 1,000 pounds tongue weight, # PS49583.

These systems come with everything you need minus a ball. For a 2 inch ball use # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 19286. To add sway control to these systems you can use # 83660.
