5th Wheel Hitch For 2021 RAM 3500 With Factory Prep - No Ram Box

Question:

Purchasing a 2021 RAM 3500 Big Horn Mega Cab short bed dually with 5th Wheel Prep Pkg. Looking the Demco 8553007 with the 6099 mounting frame. Is there anything else I would need? (Additional information: No Ram Box. Go with higher capacity.)

To install a 5th wheel hitch on your 2021 Ram 3500 with factory 5th wheel prep (pucks) I recommend first that you install the Demco # DM6099 Rail Adapter. The bottom of this adapter attaches to factory prep package in the bed of your truck, then your hitch attaches on the top of it.

Since you do not have the Ram Box option, and you have a short bed truck, your best choice is the Demco # DM8550035 Autoslide 5th wheel hitch. The advantage of “Autoslide” is that you don't have to manually get out of your truck to disengage the hitch when slow-speed tight turns are necessary.

This hitch is rated for 21,000 pounds. Optionally you could have selected the Demco # DM8550034 which is only rated for 18,000 pounds.
