Choosing a Base Plate for a 2012 Jeep Wrangler if You Already Have a Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar

Question:

I already have the stowmaster 5000. I used it to tow my 1995 Jeep Wrangler. I recently upgraded to a 2012 Jeep Wrangler and i need to get the base plates for my new Jeep so I can continue to use my stowmaster 5000. Which part number are the baseplates only?

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Roadmaster StowMaster, part # RM-501, is compatible with most Roadmaster EZ, EZ2, EZ4, XL, and Classic vehicle-specific base plates and will not work with MX, MS, or EZ5 base plates.

With that in mind, we can narrow down which base plate you can use. I've linked to a page with Roadmaster base plates that are compatible with a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The difference between these is the style of bumper you have, which you can choose from the drop-down list.

For example, if you have the "standard factory bumper - no winches or guards", then you will see two options. The # RM-521448-4 option will work for your StowMaster because it is an EZ4 base plate, while the RM-521448-5 option will not work because it is an EZ5 base plate. I've linked to a video installation of the EZ4 in case this is the style of bumper you have.

If you let me know which model you have, I can help with determining what is best for your application.
