Will etrailer Trailer Hitch for 2015 Ford Transit T150 Allow Higher Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a Transit T150 Wagon with the Ford towing package hitch, 4/7-pin, T/H mode on transmission. I plan on getting a small camper thats under the 5k tow rating of the vehicle, but often the campers tongue weight is above 10 of the total weight. The OEM hitch that came with my van has a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs, which is not enough to support the ~600-700 lbs tongue weight of the camper. If I replace the OEM hitch with this etrailer hitch, will the van be able to handle this increased tongue weight but still under 5k total tow weight?

I checked the online Ford towing guide and the owner's manual for your 2015 Ford Transit T150 and it did not mention a specific tongue weight capacity for your vehicle, only that the tongue weight should be between 10% and 15% of the loaded trailer's weight.
I highly recommend checking with your local Ford dealer to verify if there is a set tongue weight limit for the vehicle that isn't listed for whatever reason, and if not, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98842 will be able to handle the higher tongue weight rating you may need. The ultimate authority on this is Ford, as we just aren't in a position to say what a vehicle can or cannot handle outside of the publicly available capacities.
I have added links below to the instructions and video reviews for you to check out as well of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98842.
