The Rightline Sport 3 XL Rooftop Cargo Bag # RL100S30, is compatible with vehicles that have either a roof rack system or factory side rails. It will work just fine on your Soul.

It is a good idea, before placing anything heavy on your vehicle roof, to check your owners manual for any weight restrictions or other guidance about transporting cargo, just to make sure you do not exceed the vehicle limits.

A great feature of this type of carrier is that unlike roof baskets and cargo boxes, which themselves tend to weigh roughly 30-40 pounds, this lightweight cargo bag weighs only 6-1/2 pounds. This means that almost all of your roof weight capacity will be available for your loaded cargo. The bag includes bungee cords to help the fabric bag conform to the shape of your cargo (to reduce wind noise) and it is equipped with 6 tie-down straps to secure it to your Soul roof side rails.

Please note that this product is not water-proof; it is weather resistant. If you were to drive for an extended period in hard rain at highway speed eventually some water would enter the bag. In this case your delicate items could be placed inside plastic zip-lock bags before going into the carrier.

It is always a good idea to keep the bottom of any cargo bag and the top of the roof very clean to prevent dirt from damaging the paint finish. You might want to consider the Rightline Non-Skid Roof Protection Pad, part # RL100650. This will help protect the finish on your roof. and help to keep the bag in place.

A handy accessory item for use with any rooftop cargo carrier is a wheel-mount step, such as the HitchMate TireStep Adjustable Step # HE4040. This folding step slips over a tire and provides easier access to the cargo on your roof. When you need it, simply unfold it and slip it over either rear tire; when not in use it folds up small enough to be tucked out of the way.
