Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with Rail Kit Installed

getting ready to purchase my first 5th wheel hitch. I want to get some expert advise! I have a 2004 dodge ram 2500 diesel. quad cab, short bed, 2 wheel drive, single rear wheels. my truck has above bed rails already installed. the camper I am looking to pull is a 2015 grand design 323 bhs. GVWR 13,995. hitch weight 1980lbs. what is your recommendation for 5th wheel hitch?

Since your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 is a short bed you'll need a slider hitch to provide the clearance needed to make sharp turns. A super popular option is the Reese slider hitch part # RP30075 which has enough capacity and a round tube slider that operates smoothly.

Or you have the option for an automatic slider with the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034 which slides back as you make tight turns to give you the clearance automatically.

Both of these will fit the rails you have installed already in the bed of your truck.
