Troubleshooting Nev-R-Adjust Brake Assemblies that Are Weak on Trailer
Question:
I have a travel trailer 4,000 lbs axle. It has dexter Nev-R-adjust brakes on it. They are not working properly, and trailer is less than a year old and have pulled it less than 2,000 miles. I would like to replace these with manual adjust brakes and dont see any for a 4,000 lb. axle. that is the rating on axle. Any suggestions?

A 10 inch manual adjust brake assembly for a 3,500 lb axle would work but I suspect something else is the issue since the Nev-R-Adjust brakes are normally really great performing. I'd hate to have you buy the new assemblies and be left with same performance.
Are the brakes weak? Are they not working at all? Typically weak brakes are from them being out of adjustment (probably not the issue), the wiring for the assemblies not being 10 gauge like part # 10-1-1, or a grease seal being blown in a hub which is causing grease in the drum to prevent proper performance.
For a set of manual adjusting assemblies we have the part # AKEBRK-35 though.
