Recommended Trailer Hitch and Ball Mount/Hitch Ball for a 2000 Chrysler 300M

Question:

I am planning several 500-mile 65 mph highway trips during which I will be towing either a utility trailer or a 3000 lb sedan. The tow vehicle will be a 2000 Chrysler 300M. I am considering your Curt class 2 trailer hitch C12034 and your Curt adjustable width tow bar C19745. First, please tell me if any of the weights, speeds, distances, or equipment ions above are unreasonable. Second, please tell me the height off the ground of the top of the receiver tube so that I can choose the proper rise draw bar. Last question: Is ball diameter related to class or does it only depend on coupler size? Thanks.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12034 is a great option for a 2000 Chrysler 300M. It has a class II rating with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening which will provide up to a 3,500 lb weight capacity. That said, the hitch capacities are tested independently of the vehicle so you will need to verify the vehicle capacity and any other towing restrictions in the owner's manual.

In regards to the ball mount, the manufacturer recommends the Curt Class II Drawbar part # C45521 which will work with most standard trailer coupler heights but I don't have any specific measurements on the trailer hitch since it will vary by vehicle. The correct size hitch ball will be based on the trailer coupler but most this size use a 2" Hitch Ball part # C40018. Don't forget the Hitch Pin and Clip part # F-4.
